As the former Head of Contentious Trusts at Taylor Wessing, Emma is recognised as a market-leading private wealth disputes practitioner. She is ranked in Band 1 in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, and brings more than 25 years of experience in some of the most complex, ground-breaking cases to the Stephenson Harwood team.
Emma specialises in contentious trusts, with a particular emphasis on offshore litigation involving tracing and recovery within complex trust structures. A dual-qualified English Barrister and Jersey Advocate, Emma’s unrivalled combination of skills also enable her to represent clients in both the Jersey and English courts.
Emma’s clients include trustees, family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families from around the world, whom she advises on high-stakes, multi-jurisdictional disputes. Emma has played a pivotal role in landmark litigation within the sector, including precedent-setting cases such as the ‘Z Trust’ matter, which clarified the treatment of insolvent trusts and the rights of former trustees, and the widely reported Volpi v Volpi trust arbitration, the first-ever arbitration proceedings involving trusts.
