Daryll Ng is the managing partner of Stephenson Harwood's Singapore office and a partner at Virtus Law*.

Daryll specialises in maritime and commercial dispute resolution. With almost 30 years of experience, he supports a diverse range of clients, including vessel owners, insurers, shipyards, and financial institutions. He is qualified in Singapore and the UK, allowing him to offer comprehensive legal solutions, whether in court, arbitration or mediation.

Daryll's practice encompasses a wide array of services, from advising on charterparties, port and cargo issues, vessel underperformance, shipbuilding contracts, supply agreements, war risks, and any matter relating to the maritime sector, ranging from pre-litigation/arbitration issues to trials and appeals as well as arbitration hearings. 

Daryll is regularly involved in SIAC, SCMA, LMAA, and ad hoc arbitrations.  He is a Senior Accredited Specialist in Maritime and Shipping Law (Singapore Academy of Law).

  • Hanjin Shipbuilding and Construction

    Successfully defending HJ Shipbuilding & Construction Co, Ltd against claims brought by Keppel, now Seatrium New Energy, before the Singapore High Court for alleged defects in shipbuilding works.

  • The STI Orchard

    Acted and advised defendant shipowners in Singapore court proceedings relating to a misdelivery claim by a financing bank as holder of the original bills of lading, wherein the bank had applied for summary judgment which was ultimately refused by the court.

  • Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Ltd v Maersk Tankers Singapore Pte Ltd (Winson Oil Trading Pte Ltd, intervener)

    Represented defendant shipowners in respect of a misdelivery claim involving oil cargo discharged without original bills of lading, raising key issues on loss causation and security interests.
