Martin Cormont is an Associate within the Restructuring and Insolvency practice of the Paris office of Stephenson Harwood.

Martin advises and assists French and international clients, including the various stakeholders faced with an insolvency situation or crisis (distressed companies, shareholders, creditors, investors, purchasers, insolvency practitioners, etc.) on all aspects of restructuring and insolvency matters, whether it involves financial or operational restructurings or company takeovers, both in an amicable and judicial context, as well as on the litigation aspects that may arise in this context.
Prior to joining Stephenson Harwood, Martin worked for two years at FHBX, a firm of administrateurs judiciaires (insolvency practitioners), notably on landmark financial restructuring cases such as Europcar, Vallourec, Arc and Orpéa.
With Alexandre Koenig and Lauriane Chauvet, Martin has taught, since January 2025, a series of practical courses on insolvency law to students enrolled in the Master 2 “Structures et techniques juridiques des affaires” at the University Paris Saclay.
Martin is a graduate of the Université Paris-Dauphine where he received a masters' degree in Business Law, after a bachelor's degree in Law and Management.

Advised a leading group in the private healthcare sector, on strategic acquisition of a clinic, combining a court-approved asset deal in receivership proceedings with a major real estate transaction for the purchase of the clinic’s premises.
Banking and finance
Advised a bank on the financial restructuring of one of France’s largest shipping companies.
Interior design industry
Advised a leading manufacturer of interior doors in the successful acquisition of selected assets and activities of another group, in receivership proceedings.
