Pensions: Data protection update

Pensions | 31/03/2026

Pension schemes face important new obligations in light of the Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) and recent data protection requirements. These include:

New requirements for data sharing and cybersecurity under the PDP, such as reviewing contracts, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments, and updating privacy notices and internal policies.
The introduction of formal data protection complaints-handling processes under the Data (Use and Access Act) 2025, effective from 19 June 2026.

To help you navigate these changes, the Stephenson Harwood Pensions and Data Protection teams have produced the attached flyer, which outlines the key legal developments and practical steps for pension schemes.

We encourage you to review the attached guidance and consider any actions needed to ensure your scheme’s compliance ahead of the relevant deadlines.

If you have any questions or would like further support, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your usual Stephenson Harwood contact.
