Data centre procurement: one size does not fit all

Whilst the UK Government is prioritising investment in AI infrastructure, which brings significant growth opportunities within the data centre market, data centre developments are becoming increasingly complex and costly. Data centre developers may consequently look at an owner-furnished, contractor-installed (OFCI) procurement model as a way to reduce lead-in times and achieve more economical and transparent costs. Ryan considers what happens when this model is pushed even further to an owner-furnished, owner-installed procurement model and the inherent risks associated with this approach when the local nuances in the procurement process (especially here in the UK) are not properly assessed by developers.
