    Acted for wholesale importer and distributor in resisting a SIAC arbitration claim by an American entity in respect of claims in excess of USD 40 million for failure to pay. This brief later progressed into a successful appeal to the Court of Appeal to set aside the award in BXH v BXI [2020] 1 SLR 1043.

  • Disputes arising out of a construction of a power plant

    Represented a Chinese state-owned entity in an ad-hoc arbitration against a Singaporean contractor in relation to defect claims and variation orders arising out of the construction of a power plant in Singapore.

  • Disputes arising out of the construction and delivery of turbines in a LNG terminal

    Represented an American entity in resisting a SIAC arbitration claim by a Chinese entity in relation to a dispute relating to the construction and delivery of turbines to be installed in an LNG terminal under construction in China.

  • Disputes arising out of the sale and purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles

    Acted for a Hong Kong entity in resisting an ICC arbitration claim in relation to the sale and purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles. The dispute involved, among others, issues arising out of breaches of customs and sanctions regulations.

  • Defect claims arising out of the construction of a combined cycle power plant

    Represented an American company in an ICC arbitration against a Korean company in relation to defect claims arising out of the construction of a combined cycle power plant in Malaysia.

  • Claims arising out of an explosion at a petrochemical facility

    Represented a joint venture company in relation to claims in excess of US$600 million arising out of the construction of refinery, cracker and selected petrochemical facilities in Malaysia.

  • Disputes arising out of a spot agreement for the delivery of LNG cargo

    Acted for an LNG trading company in two concurrent SIAC arbitrations against both the upstream seller and downstream buyer in respect of claims in excess of US$50 million for failure to deliver.

  • Disputes arising out of a circular trade of marine fuel oil

    Represented a Chinese entity in resisting a claim by a Singaporean entity centered around a circular trade of marine fuel oil.

  • Resisting a claim arising out of a fraudulent call on a letter of credit

    Acted for a Chinese bank in resisting a US$20 million claim filed in the Singapore Court in relation to a fraudulent attempt to call on a letter of credit.

  • Disputes arising out of the construction and delivery of line machinery

    Advised a German entity on strategic options available in a dispute with a Chinese entity in relation to the construction and delivery of line machinery.
