Anthony has experience in advising leading banks, financial institutions and fintechs on the preparation of different documentation (e.g. loan, security, trade finance, credit insurance, platform service and standard client documentation) as well as product structuring (e.g. receivable and payable finance programmes).


He also advises on debt restructuring as well as trade finance and insurance disputes regularly.


Further, he has extensive experience in advising clients on issues regarding regulation and compliance (particularly those relating to the HKMA and the HKIA), anti-money laundering and sanctions and money lending.
Anthony is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Experience

  • Trade finance

    + Advised various international and Chinese banks as well as fintechs in their preparation of all trade finance product-related documentation project (e.g. LCs, SBLCs, invoice financing, receivable/payable financing and risk participation, etc). 

    + Advised a Hong Kong developer on its various receivable financing programmes. 

    + Assisted a Chinese bank in its claim against a UAE oil and gas exporter for outstanding payments under various invoices. 

    + Advised various international and Chinese banks, financial institutions and fintechs on matters in relation to trade-based anti-money laundering and sanction issues. 

  • Banks and banking

    + Advised various international and Chinese banks on the preparation and update(s) of their standard client documentation as well as loan and security documentation. 

    + Advised a number of banks on various commodity pre-delivery finance facilities to energy companies. 

    + Advised a virtual bank on the launching of its banking services following its successful application of the banking license. 

    + Advised a number of virtual banks on the launching of different loan products and preparation of standard client documentation. 

    + Assisted various local and international banks in various debt recovery matters. 

  • Restructuring and insolvency

    + Advised United Overseas Bank's (UOB) in its US$1.5 billion loan to Shimao, one of China’s largest real estate developers, for the ongoing construction and preservation of the value of Shimao's Tai Wo Ping project in Kowloon, Hong Kong, as part of Shimao's restructuring. 

    + Advised a Chinese bank as a creditor on the scheme of arrangement proposed by a Chinese property developer. 

    + Advised a French Bank in relation to the restructuring of certain trade finance facilities involving both Hong Kong law and French law security package. 

  • Technology

    + Advised a Chinese bank in relation to its adoption of blockchain technology for its trade finance practice. 

    + Advised various Hong Kong- and Singapore-based fintechs in its product structuring and the drafting of standard client documentation as well as platform service agreements. 

    + Advised different virtual banks and fintechs on data privacy issues regularly.

  • Insurance

    + Advised a Hong Kong credit insurer in the structuring of a number of credit insurance products and the subsequent preparation of corresponding insurance policies. 

    + Advised a Hong Kong fintech in its successful credit insurance claim against a UK credit insurer. 

    + Advised a Hong Kong long-term business insurer in respect of regulatory investigations conducted against it and various outsourcing matters.
