Evangeline has 20 years of cross-border experience in Asia's commercial hubs: Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Based in Hong Kong, she frequently travels to Shanghai, acting for clients in the Hong Kong and English courts , and managing disputes globally, including the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, India, and the US. She conducts ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, under the SIAC, HKIAC, CIETAC and ICC Rules.
Specialising in shipping disputes, Evangeline handles charterparty, cargo defense, shipbuilding, bunkering, and financing issues. She is regularly engaged by P&I Clubs, shipowners, and financial institutions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the PRC.
Evangeline has also built a transactional practice, expertly negotiating and drafting bespoke leasing documents for financial institutions and owners.
OW Bunkers collapse disputes
Advised over 30 shipowners in disputes arising in respect of the collapse of OW Bunkers and dealing with arrests, security arrangements, conflicts of laws, receivables financing and ongoing arbitrations.
Charter and insolvency disputes, and P&I Club coverage issues
Advising and representing shipowners in charter disputes, covering vessel repossession, early redelivery, speed and performance, unseaworthiness, non-payment, groundings, detentions, and liens. Handling insolvency claims by bunker suppliers and sub-charterers, and advising on P&I Club coverage issues.
Claims on misdelivery of goods
Representing liner operator in relation to a US$28 million claim regarding alleged misdelivery of goods before the Hong Kong high court, court of appeal and court of final appeal in respect of Mareva injunction, Chabra injunction and receivership orders.
Charter and cargo disputes
Advising and representing various charterers in relation to disputes arising under time and voyage charters, including speed and performance, dangerous cargo, incidents of fire and unseaworthiness issues.
Representing liner operator in relation to various container stack collapse claims.
Bills of lading claims and issues
Advising shipowners, charterers, and liner operators on claims and issues related to bills of lading, including cargo damage, delivery without original documents, and electronic bills.
Successful Chinese refund claims for shipowners
Successfully represented shipowners in arbitration with a Chinese shipyard that failed to construct vessels, successfully claiming on Chinese refund guarantees.
Repossessed vessels for finance leasing firms globally
Advising and representing finance leasing companies in the repossession of vessels where the borrower failed to perform its obligations under the financing documents. Manage the cases and advise on rights and remedies under loan documents. Repossess vessels and recover debts if charterers resist.
Coal and actin sale and purchase disputes
Advised a power company in various issues arising under sale and purchase of coal and actin company in significant dispute arising from sale and purchase of coal.
Major metals warehousing fraud claim
Advising a major trading house on the Chinese and Hong Kong law aspects of their successful defence of a headline-making US$270 million claim, relating to “repo” deals affected by a major metals warehousing fraud in Qingdao. Particular advice on transfer of title in sale of goods contracts.

Representing sellers in relation to LC disputes arising out of the sale of goods into Vietnam, VIAC arbitrations and injunctions from the Vietnam courts.
