With more than a decade of experience, Matt has worked across a diverse range of sectors including commercial/office, mixed-use projects, life sciences, logistics and residential (including BTR and PBSA), for an equally diverse set of domestic and international clients from lenders, sponsors, real estate investors, institutional and first-time developers, pension funds and PE houses.

Matt enjoys working on a full range of projects, from fit out projects through to complex and long-term, multi-phase developments. He has particular experience in the investment side of development, most notably development finance and forward-funded schemes and has also developed expertise in projects compromised by main contractor and supply chain insolvency. Matt enjoys working with the various stakeholders on his projects and is able to defuse problems by engaging with all parties in a pragmatic and solutions-focussed way. Clients like his commercial approach, with its focus on big picture solutions with the lifecycle of a scheme in mind.

  • Oxford Properties

    Advised Oxford Properties on the major redevelopment of King Edward Court, the headquarters of the London Stock Exchange, to create a truly modern, energy efficient and bespoke workspace for the future.

  • Oxford Properties

    Advised Oxford Properties as an occupier on their in-situ refurbishment and fit out of existing London office headquarters to create a modern and flexible workspace in one of the City of London's most recognisable iconic buildings, the Leadenhall Building (known as the Cheesegrater).

  • British Land

    Advised British Land on its complex redevelopment of and extension to office space at West One, on Oxford Street and on top of Bond Street tube station. This included negotiating with the full range of project stakeholders from the freeholder to transport service providers to deliver tailored contracts suitable for a project of this complexity.

  • Barings

    Advised Barings on its development at 25 Moorgate to deliver a low carbon and modern commercial office in a prime City of London location. Matt advised from the outset of demolition through to main contract procurement and ultimately dealing with an insolvent main contractor and appointing a suitable replacement.

  • Barings

    Advised Barings on the multi-phase redevelopment of the Soapworks factory in Bristol to create a mixed-use district comprising homes, flexible workspace solutions and cultural spaces with a focus on respecting the heritage of the existing building while creating a modern and biodiverse district for the future. Advice included a full range of construction contracts, including district heat network agreements. 

  • Unibail Rodamco Westfield

    Advised URW on its ongoing ambitious and long-running scheme to regenerate the town centre of Croydon to create a mixed-use district by revitalising existing real estate to create 14,500 new homes, new and enhanced commercial and retail space and to enable Croydon's continued importance in the Gatwick Airport Economic Zone and its strong logistics output.  

  • Transport for Greater Manchester

    Advised TfGM as a transport provider in relation to a potential development by a Manchester developer to build a high-rise residential structure on top of and around a busy Metrolink station in central Manchester. Matt has also advised TfGM in relation to the use of bespoke asset protection agreements. 

  • Partners Group

    Advised Partners Group on their first major construction project of a formerly distressed asset to create a 14-storey mixed-used commercial and retail development in the heart of the City of London.  

  • Invesco Real Estate

    Advised Invesco Real Estate as a forward funder in relation to BTR schemes at Brent Cross Town (a development by Related Argent),  Hounslow, Barking and Kew. 

  • Shawbrook Bank

    Advised Shawbrook Bank as an occupier on their fit out of commercial office space at 40 Leadenhall, City of London.
