Qualified in Egypt in 2004, he relocated to Dubai in 2011 and specialises in dispute resolution within the shipping, international trade, aviation and insurance sectors.

He represents clients in litigation across the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, handling civil, commercial and criminal cases. His clients include shipowners, P&I clubs, ports, ship agencies, charterers, energy companies and traders. Mohamed manages complex wet shipping disputes such as collisions, allisions, ship abandonment, fire, salvage, groundings and oil pollution, as well as dry shipping issues including ship arrests, charterparty disputes and cargo claims.

Beyond disputes, Mohamed advises on transactional matters assisting with drafting and negotiating contracts such as sale and purchase agreements, logistics and trade contracts.

His insurance expertise spans life, property, liability, marine, political risk and medical policies. Mohamed is well known in the insurance market and has handled complex disputes on behalf of insurers, reinsurers and brokers in the Middle East.

In aviation, he advises on air carriage disputes, aircraft lease, mortgage and ownership issues, having represented airlines and manufacturers in significant Middle East aviation casualties.

  • War risks

    Represented war risk insurers and shipowners in connection with multiple attack incidents that occurred in the Arabian Gulf.

  • EVER GIVEN incident advisory

    Instructed by an international P&I club on the EVER GIVEN grounding in the Suez Canal. Mohamed advised on-site in Egypt, reviewing contracts, assessing liabilities and recourse options, and investigating the cause while addressing issues involving third parties.

  • Trade contract disputes advice

    Retained by a UAE-based trading business to advise on time-sensitive trade contract disputes.

  • Abu Dhabi Port Safety Regulations update

    Advised the Department of Municipalities and Transport on revising the Abu Dhabi Port Safety Regulations and related rulebooks. Aligned port rules with updated regulations and supported finalisation in collaboration with DMT’s technical and legal teams.

  • Rig maintenance incident loss recovery

    Acted for a national drilling company in recovering losses arising from an incident during rig maintenance at a UAE dock.

  • Container cargo damage disputes

    Represented a leading container shipping company in multiple disputes related to damaged cargos on board. The perishable goods, transported in containers, were subject to significant voyage delays, resulting in over-refrigeration and early spoilage.

  • Ship abandonment & crew claims

    Regularly representing clients in ship abandonment cases across the Emirates, handling crew claims and ensuring compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention.
