Yi Lei specialises in guiding clients through complex commercial disputes and restructuring and insolvency, litigation and dispute resolution matters. His expertise is sought after by creditors seeking to maximise recovery as well as debtors facing financial distress.

Yi Lei has a strong focus on insolvency and restructuring. He played a pivotal role in landmark cases, including but not limited to the first successful application for a scheme of arrangement moratorium by a foreign company under Singapore’s new scheme of arrangement moratorium regime in the 2017 Companies Act amendments, assisting major secured lenders to recover assets from the restructuring of various large corporations such as the Bourbon Corporation, the Hin Leong Trading group and Agritrade International, and acting as lead counsel to obtain an order from the Singapore Courts to recognise a People's Republic of China liquidation.

More recently, Yi Lei has assisted fund managers, incubator funds, established and start-up fintech companies, and project founders personally in commercial disputes. In particular, clients value Yi Lei's ability to deliver results in high-stakes situations, such as obtaining an emergency arbitration award to freeze cryptocurrency tokens in less than a month from instructions being provided, and to obtain Singapore court judgments in cryptocurrency related disputes.
