Nigel has extensive experience in structuring and documenting secured loan facilities, operating leases, and innovative finance structures across the shipping and aviation sectors. His recent work includes advising on multi-jurisdictional syndicated loans, sustainability-linked facilities, and the registration, discharge, and transfer of Greek mortgages. Highly regarded in the market for his expertise in high-stakes financial transactions.

Experience

  • Facilitated refinancing of an LNG tanker    

    Advised on a US$85 million secured term loan for refinancing an LNG tanker, handling English law aspects and Greek mortgage registration, and negotiating charter rights assignments.

  • Facilitated financing for new MR tankers    

    Advised on US$220.6 million sale and leaseback transactions for financing 5 new MR tankers, negotiating agreements and securing SPV shares and insurances

  • Enabled LNG tanker refinancing through secured loan and strategic charter rights management.    

    Advised on a US$85 million secured term loan for refinancing an LNG tanker, managing Greek mortgage registration and negotiating charter rights assignments with global energy companies.

  • Facilitated vessel acquisition    

    Advised on US$18.75 million financing agreements for vessel acquisitions, securing Panamanian mortgages and conducting due diligence on management structures.

  • Strengthened shipping portfolios.    

    Advised on a US$22.6 million loan for refinancing a bulk carrier and oil tanker, securing Maltese mortgages and coordinating priority changes with local counsel.

  • Advised a Japanese international bank    

    Advising a Japanese international bank acing through its Brussels branch on the refinancing of four car carrier vessels for four single purpose shipping companies owned by a major car carrier shipping group.

  • Advised a Dutch bank    

    Advising in relation to a US$176 million senior secured amortizing credit facility to Isle of Man incorporated companies and secured over four Bahamian flag vessels, including mortgage security and corporate guarantees.

  • Advised a Dutch bank    

    Acting in relation to a US$21million syndicated cross-collateralised facility where the borrower bareboat chartered its vessel to a third party Brazilian bareboat charterer under the Brazilian flag.
