Biography

Philip advises on complex competition, regulatory and foreign investment issues, focusing on regulatory M&A, behavioural advice, investigations and disputes. He works across industry sectors, with particular experience in energy and shipping. Based in London, he supports clients ranging from multinationals and government bodies to start-ups, as they navigate legal and regulatory challenges in the UK, EU and around the world.

Philip helps clients achieve their strategic and tactical objectives by guiding them through merger control and national security reviews. He is practised in managing multi-jurisdictional merger processes, in-depth Phase II investigations, economic market analyses and interim measures.

Philip also has extensive experience advising on joint ventures and strategic contracts, helping organisations understand uncertain regulatory regimes, manage risk, secure approvals, and respond effectively to scrutiny from the authorities. His approach is practical, commercially focused and tailored to each client's interests.

Philip also advises on competition and consumer law compliance, policy advocacy and regulatory developments. He is especially interested in regulators’ growing focus on consumer issues.

Drawing on experience gained across private practice, the public sector and working in-house, Philip combines technical legal expertise with an understanding of the commercial and political environments in which clients operate.
