Stephenson Harwood advises Trafalgar Entertainment on acquisition of London Theatre Company

Corporate | 02/07/2026

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised longstanding client Trafalgar Entertainment on its acquisition of London Theatre Company Holdings Limited (LTC).

LTC was established in 2017 by Sir Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr following their twelve year tenure at the National Theatre. Later that year, the company opened the Bridge Theatre, the first wholly new theatre of scale to be added to London’s commercial theatre sector in 80 years and the first to be built outside the historic West End. Since opening, the Bridge has hosted an impressive range of productions, including A German Life starring Maggie Smith, Richard II with Jonathan Bailey and the 2026 Olivier Award-winning Best Musical Revival, Into the Woods.

The transaction also brings a King’s Cross venue which hosts immersive entertainment business, Lightroom, into Trafalgar Entertainment’s portfolio. Together, the venues represent an important part of London’s contemporary cultural offer. By combining LTC’s strong creative identity with Trafalgar Entertainment’s backing and infrastructure, the deal is expected to support future growth.

The Stephenson Harwood team worked closely with Trafalgar Entertainment throughout the process, drawing on the firm’s experience in complex M&A and its deep understanding of the corporate real estate and live entertainment market.

The deal team was led by Partner Jonathan Bridcut and Associates James Gracey and Eleanor Wardley, with support from across the firm including, in particular, Partner Paul Hayward-Surry and Associates Alicia Morgan and Georgia Irwin.
