Stephenson Harwood wins ‘Disputes Team Of The Year' Award

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP’s Commercial Litigation team has been named ‘Disputes Team of the Year' at The Legal Business Awards 2026.

Stephenson Harwood was recognised for its pivotal role in the landmark Yukos case. The firm represented the former majority shareholders of Yukos Oil Company in enforcement proceedings against the Russian Federation, acting for them for more than a decade. In March 2026, Stephenson Harwood led the legal team to secure a record-breaking judgment from the English Commercial Court, with an award of over US$66 billion - the largest judgment ever issued by the English courts.

“It’s been a privilege to work for our clients on this landmark case,” said Partner Ros Prince, Head of Fraud & Asset Recovery, London, who led the Stephenson Harwood team advising on the matter. “The judgment was not just a victory for our clients, it is a victory for the rule of law.  We are grateful to our clients and our counsel team, with whom we have worked closely over the years to achieve this result.  Stephenson Harwood’s litigation team has a long history of acting on the most complex, important cases, and we are honoured by this recognition for our work.”
