Simon has extensive experience working in legal services for PE/VC. He has handled formation of variety of equity investment funds, including venture capital funds guided by government, FOF, CVC, QFLP, REITs funds, real estate funds, PPP funds and offshore funds. Simon also advised on numerous PE/VC investment projects, fund units transfer, redemption, fund liquidation and fund-related disputes settlement.
Simon successfully advised various listed companies on their IPOs in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, such as CCGrass, Ginnva, Dowstone, Xiezhong International and Aotecar Refrigerating.
With deep experience in restructuring and insolvency, Simon acted as one of the core advisors on a multi-industry group's bankruptcy and reorgansation case, the largest one in China as of 2024 in terms of debt scale, and also in restructuring of a serial industry zone development group which is the largest out-of-court debt restructuring project in China till 2024. Simon handled many bankruptcy cases, including the first Sino-foreign joint venture leasing company's bankruptcy case in China, bankruptcy and reorganisation of a Singapore listed steel manufacture group, and overseas bond debt restructuring and bankruptcy of an aluminum manufacturing group. Simon also represents investors and creditors from financial institutions in variety of distressed company restructurings in China.
Simon is recognised as a leading lawyer in insolvency and restructuring by Chambers and Partners Greater China and Legalband. He is also recognised as a leading lawyer for banking and finance by China Law & Practice and is a recommended lawyer in corporate, M&A, banking and international trading for The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific. Additionally, Simon has been awarded as a leading lawyer by Pudong Law Society. Simon is the chair of WTO Professional Committee of Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association. He was also the vice chairman of Shanghai Bankruptcy Law Research Committee, the leading director of Bankruptcy and Liquidation Committee of Shanghai Bar Association, member of Insolvency & Restructuring Committee and Corporate Law Committee of All China Lawyers Association, member of Council of Shanghai Association of Bankruptcy Administrators, and deputy director of Shanghai Bankruptcy Administrators’ Remuneration Fund Management Committee. He was a member of Council of Pudong Venture Capital Association.
Before joining Wei Tu, Simon worked as partner in several leading law firms. He was a managing director in a leading venture capital fund.
